These Days

13.2.15

Alright, so I kind of feel like I can't start fresh in 2015 without telling you about some of the cool stuff that's been going on these days.  Like Kanye, my life is dope and I do dope shit.  Mostly because of this little stinker.

Lenny has been thriving in full day Junior Kindergarten.  I can hardly get over how awesome she is.  For real.  One of the best parts of our new normal is when she comes home with artwork.  This is a picture of the two of us, together.  She's the small one on the right with the hair brighter than the sun.  Is it weird that I think think TOTALLY looks like us?

Winter kind of sucks and I miss our days at the park and the beach and on the front porch.  We did make homemade play-dough though which, I must admit, was a proud mommy moment.  You can find the recipe we used here.

Trust, if we can do it, you can do it.

I've been getting used to having Barbie live in my house.  I never played with them when I was a kid, and their weird plasticness has never sat well with me.  But you know what?  I've relented on all of my body issue / feminist baggage when it comes to this blonde and will admit that I now think Barbie is all about how you play with her.  Lenny's Barbies are fun and silly and brave and with all that going for them who gives a rat's ass if they've got an unreasonable thigh gap?

Without a doubt, one of the best parts of Winter is basketball season.  Go Raptors!

Speaking of Basketball (and it's crazed fan base), Lenny got to meet one of her favourite children's authors recently. When I told her Mr. Spike made movies too she was SHOCKED, shocked, I tell you!  Here they are sharing a laugh.  I die a little inside whenever I look at this picture.  In a good way.

And here I am with my favourite filmmaker of all time.  No big.  Thanks for the photo Mo.  And for stalking Spike with me every time he's come to town since 1992.

One of the reasons posting has been so light lately is that business has been booming.  Freelance life has been treating me well and all I can really do most days is keep my head down and do the work.  This is not a complaint, mind you.  It really is true that when you're doing work you enjoy, you're happy.  Sounds so simple and yet, it was such an elusive concept for so much of my professional life.  Once I hit 40 things really started to fall into place.  I'm reluctant to get too confident of course (chickens hatching, etc) but I'm hoping to have some great news soon about a couple of new clients.

Social Media strategy and content creation is an ever evolving field and coffee is mandatory.

And so is a good partner.  Forgive me if I gloat, but I kind of hit the husband jackpot, yo.  He takes such good care of us and he can play the piano like this:

Actually, he can play OSCAR PETERSON'S PIANO like that.  That's not CRAZY, AWESOME, COOL AT ALL.

I'm sorry for shouting.  Except not really. No, I'm not sorry.

Aaaaaanyway, that's what's been going on these days in these parts.  Life, you know?  The kiddo and the jobs and the coffee.  Same as it ever was, thank Jebus.
