Introducing the newest member of our family...

12.3.07

Meet RELAXO 5000, our brand spanking new exercise bike! His real name is "Johnson R7000" but we like Relaxo better. Relaxo arrived at Chez Nolan/Robeau on Friday and we both took turns playing with him Saturday and Sunday. So far, so good. I much prefer getting all sweaty and stupid looking in my own basement to the getting all sweaty and stupid looking in the gym, which is full of people that glow instead of sweat. I'm out of shape and I hate those glowing people.

I've committed to doing a 10K run/walk in two months for charity (I'm hoping to run it) and I'm counting on Relaxo to get me ready for that. Once the weather gets a little less objectionable I'll hit the pavement too, but it the meantime it's all up to Relaxo...

If any of you out there have motivational advice or thoughts on what you like to listen to on your ipod when you workout, I would be most appreciative.

  1. I know exactly how you feel. All weekend (ok once for an hour on Sat) when I exercised on the eliptical I was pushing the >> button non-stop. Know what finally got me pumped Beyonce's first cd. Seriously good booty shaking, maybe I will look like that someday, sweat it all out music. Good stuff.

Just out of curiosity, what was Relaxo's old colour scheme?

  4. Fuschia and lime green. He used to be a lot gayer back in the day. I think they sent him to one of those "shake off your gay" Christian camps. A few more weeks with me and he should be back to his old self...

I just spent 30 minutes with my new pal. Keep those music tips coming. CeCe - I'm getting some Beyonce, stat!

  5. HA! He went to a "shake off your gay" Christian camp! Nearly fell off my flabby butt laughing w/ that one.

Ok, my taste is a little weird, but pretty much anything by Beck (except the songs from the post-breakup "Sea Change") is good for exercising to. Thom Yorke's "The Eraser"--glum but energizing. Luscious Jackson. Siouxsie and the Banshees. Kathleen Edwards' "Back to Me." Mindy Smith's "Come to Jesus," and that one'll make you straight, too. Garbage. Just about anything from Zap Mama. Transglobal Underground's first album. Wheat. Gomez.

If you are interested in the nutrition piece, go to www.fpnotebook.com and click on "Dietician in the Box." Fill out the brief questionnaire and it will spit out a diet and exercise program that is pretty reasonably targeted at you. I like it and recommend it a lot!

Thanks for the fashion advice, babe. I need makeup lessons, though, I think... =)

Sometimes Elvis helps me shake-it at the gym... but I am a little behind the times! :)

  8. The Relaxo! Funny. When I get on the treadmill, I don't listen to music, I watch the thingy that tells you how long you've gone so far and I basically pray that it's almost over. I should try music.

Greeny has great taste in music. I'd like to raid her cds.

  9. The operative word being "When" I get on the treadmill. Must get my self to gym. Must find a Relaxo of my own. (that sounds kinda dirty)

  11. Wow! That's a BIG baby. Hee hee.

I think any danceable stuff would be good. Maybe some Goldfrapp, Kylie Minogue, Donna Summer or Justin Timberlake. If you want to rock out I'd go with Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Hot Hot Heat, Tracy Bonham or The Black Keys. If you want soulful and funky, try Curtis Mayfield, Citizen Cope, Amy Winehouse or Corinne Bailey Rae

  15. My workout music has to be sugary pop. Mika, Xtina, Kelly Clarkson...how embarassing.

  16. The RELAXO! I just think that is funny.

Oh, RELAXO, what kind of music do you like? I think the RELAXO would like ABBA.
