Fashion Friday Holiday Lookbook: Cozy Pastels Edition

29.11.13

Dressing for the holidays can be tricky.  How much glitz is too much glitz?  Are Christmas sweaters ever OK?  What's the right way to approach the office party?  And if you're in the North East, like I am, you get to navigate all this while dealing with snow and sleet.  Sometimes it's enough to make you want to find a festive Slanket and call it a day.  With all that in mind, until the new year, Fashion Friday will focused on exploring my favourite holiday trends for 2013.

One trend I'm really enjoying this holiday season is the resurgence of pastels.  The softness is very appealing, especially when you're expecting an onslaught of red and green. Addition Elle is offering lots of super cozy pastels this holiday season.  Get a glimpse of the looks they're putting together here.

My take on the trend is to pair this cozy ombre purple cowl neck (also from Addition Elle) with my Curvy Bootcut Jessica Simpson Jeans and a cocktail ring for just a little shine.  This is just right for a tree trimming party, or a night in with the girls complete with cookie swapping and wine popping.

My philosophy is to keep your look as low key as possible at events that are casual.  There will be plenty of opportunities to go glam with your hair and make up and accessorizing at more formal affairs. House parties are for comfort, warmth and a little shine.
