I know what you're thinking...

You think that Relaxo ate me. Well fear not, Bloggy McBloggerson, "Participatction" has not been the end of me. I am alive, just not alive on the intornet. As mentioned earlier, Blogger is indeed being a douche. Of course, if you are reading this, the douchery has subsided at least temporarily and I shouldn't bite the hand that feeds me. For free. Thank you Blogger. I adore you. Even when you're being a giant douche.

Relaxo is treating me well, thanks to all the great music suggestions that you sent my way. I've also downloaded a bunch of "Arrested Development" tunes - remember that great Hip Hop act that was popular in early 90s? GREAT workout music. Just great.

Expect updates really soon on The Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis and Toronto's newest jazz club Live @ Courthouse. Also, Golden Thai Curry. That's something that I want to talk about a lot. I'm not kidding. A LOT.

In the meantime, please enjoy this disgusting and amusing bit of yester-year. And you thought there was only one!

I am NOT done!

Now I'm done. Feel free to go about your business, you MINDSTICKERS!

Introducing the newest member of our family...

12.3.07

Meet RELAXO 5000, our brand spanking new exercise bike! His real name is "Johnson R7000" but we like Relaxo better. Relaxo arrived at Chez Nolan/Robeau on Friday and we both took turns playing with him Saturday and Sunday. So far, so good. I much prefer getting all sweaty and stupid looking in my own basement to the getting all sweaty and stupid looking in the gym, which is full of people that glow instead of sweat. I'm out of shape and I hate those glowing people.

I've committed to doing a 10K run/walk in two months for charity (I'm hoping to run it) and I'm counting on Relaxo to get me ready for that. Once the weather gets a little less objectionable I'll hit the pavement too, but it the meantime it's all up to Relaxo...

If any of you out there have motivational advice or thoughts on what you like to listen to on your ipod when you workout, I would be most appreciative.

The sky is still falling. Proceed with Caution.

Major stretches of highway and city streets were closed again today, but apparently we're headed for a bit of a deep freeze so the ice falling from the sky thing should cease to be an issue. I took these pictures yesterday after work in an attempt to document the weirdness of it all.

Looking out the window at CSIS before I leave for the day.

A busy section of King Street closed to traffic during rush hour. It looks like a ghost town. In fact, I think I just saw a tumbleweed.

To Serve and Protect.

Police tape, flapping in the bitter wind.

The sky is falling...no, really.

Last night at 1:30AM I sent a bulletin to my myspace friends.

Watching Obama in Selma today got me thinking...

In "WE WUZ ROBBED," Spike Lee explores the presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore in November 2000. Through first person accounts with campaign workers, advisors, confidants and speechwriters for Al Gore, Lee illuminates the confusion over the Florida polls and chronicles a historical political event that has led to what some have called the first American presidential "selection."

I've posted this video on my profile. I urge everyone to take 10 minutes to watch it.

If I'm going to have an account at a website owned by Rupert Murdoch I figure I'd better spread some good news. You guys can follow the link to myspace to the right and take a look at the video too. Spike Lee is the man. And it's never too late to talk about these issues. Just because time has passed doesn't mean democracy wasn't hijacked.

A few hours later, this morning, when I walked out my front door I heard the sound of helicopters. This is not the norm. Toronto feels like a war zone today, people. The weather is so messed up that major stretches of highway and roads downtown are blocked off because of fear of ice falling off of office buildings and the CN Tower, which happens to be the world's tallest free-standing structure. That's right. The damn thing is 553 metres tall (that's 1,815 ft for my American friends) and there are large sheets of ice, traveling at crazy high velocities, whipping around the dowtown core. I can see the tower out my window at work. I keep looking at it, waiting to see some deathly ice sliding down it's side. Nothing yet. The CN tower was built 31 years ago. This has never happened before. Coincidence?

When I went for a short walk at lunch, fighting against the wind every step, I was certain that I was going to end up like Ralphie in A Christmas Story, attacked by a rogue icicle. It was his lie, but it would become my reality.

Clearly, I've got issues.

If Al Gore was President of the United States, would I be having these issues?

This week in pictures

4.3.07

It's been a busy week Bloggy McBloggerson. I've not felt like writing much, but the viual part of my brain was alive and well. I snapped a lot of pictures. Sometimes I find this is a nice way to clear my head and the quick and easy iphoto and photoshop stuff on my computer allows me to have instant results. As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm a BIG fan of instant gratification. If digital cameras had never been invented I may have never taken a picture. Ever.

Monday night found me at the scenic Old Mill Inn where Mo, the Robeau and I went to see Andy play as part of the new trio, "Generations". The trio is led by the legendary and wonderful Gene DiNovi, with Andy on Guitar and Dave Young, one of the best, and recent Order of Canada recipient, on bass. It was an amazing night of music, played for an enthusiastic, sold out crowd.

Mid week found me at the latest "Moustache Rock Comedy Show" where Reimer (visiting from Boston) and Kirk bring their wacky characters, Tyson and Todd to life and host a bunch of Toronto's top stand ups in a variety show format. The catch? You have to grow a moustache to be in the show. Here's Reimer out of charcter, doing his stand up set. I love this picture because it looks like he could be opening for Lenny Bruce:

You can see all the pics from the 'stache show over at Flickr, if you're so inclined.

Let's see...what else happened this week? What happened that kind of made everything else stop? Something made people CRAZY this week. Mass hysteria, panic, the widespread inability to talk about anthing else. What WAS it???? Oh. Right. It snowed. And that's weird cause, you know, it's CANADA in WINTER.
